The Hockey Hall of
Fame was founded in 1943 to establish a memorial to those who have
developed Canada's great winter sport - ice hockey. Hockey Hall of
Fame and Museum exists in order to honor and preserve the history of the
game of ice hockey and, in particular, those who have made outstanding
contributions and achievements in the development of the game. The
Hockey Hall of Fame is the world's greatest hockey museum. The hall
of fame collection includes a comprehensive collection of periodicals,
scrapbooks, hockey cards, schedules, ticket stubs, postcards, videos,
audio tapes, league and team histories, reference materials, media guides,
and publications. A vast collection of thousands of rare and unique
hockey-related artifacts that help create a comprehensive record of the
game. From pucks denoting record-breaking milestones to hockey-related
merchandise, from trophies to tie-pins, these artifacts not only pay
tribute to hockey's greatest moments and legends, but also trace the
game's evolution and our own history. Thousands of high-quality
hockey photographs and negatives, both today's action shots and
yesterday's rare archival images, including original materials from
leading hockey photographers protected under Hockey Hall of Fame
copyright. They also house an extensive, easy-to-access collection of
individual photographic print files.
